Beehive Creative Events is a boutique wedding planning and design company located in beautiful midcoast Maine.
Behind the buzz Who we are
I love designing memorable weddings that reflect my couple’s personal taste and style. I believe in creating a truly meaningful wedding celebration for my clients, and I work with a talented team of vendors to make it happen with style and grace.
My couples tend to be travelers “from away” who have a personal connection to Maine — memories of beach days, campfire nights, and lots of summer fun with close family and friends. My brides love their Jimmy Choos but they’re equally as comfortable relaxing on the lake in their favorite TOMS. They want their wedding to be a one-of-a-kind fun celebration, with lots of love, beautiful personal touches, and amazing live music.
I started planning weddings for friends and family in 2003, and I’ve never lost the approach that each of my clients is my one-and-only. I take on a limited number of clients each wedding season, so you can rest assured that you’ll not be competing for my time and attention. I’ll be with you every step of the way, from initial inquiry until the last light is out on your wedding night.
Queen Bee & Creative Director Kristen Smith Winters
A native Floridian, Kristen grew up spending summer and Christmas vacations with her family at the Samoset in Rockport, Maine. After college, she made her way back north, reconnecting with her love for the midcoast region. Though she’s made Maine her home, she returns to her southern roots each year to visit family and friends, which may be why she can’t shake the accent.
Before founding Beehive Creative Events, Kristen earned her master’s degree in clinical psychology (which comes in handy during stressful wedding situations!) and practiced as a therapist for 8 years, focusing on at-risk youth and their families.
Aside from her passion for designing weddings, Kristen loves to travel (ask her about her trip to Africa!) and can often be found dancing at a local zumba, ballet, or modern dance class. She most enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and rescue dog, Maggie.

Kind words from Barrett
Kristen of Beehive Creative was wonderful to work with while planning our wedding! She listened and understood who we were as a couple and was amazing at implementing our personalities and sense of style into our wedding day. Her floral design was creative and truly enhanced our outdoor setting. Throughout the planning process, she was organized, knowledgeable about other vendors and services, and was really great about accommodating our hectic schedules. Kristen also helped us keep within our budget. We could not be more thankful!
